Manitowoc County’s Congressman in Washington calls the stoppage of weapon shipments to Israel “unconscionable and dangerous”.
Those words come from Congressman Glenn Grothman, who released a statement after President Biden announced he would pause the shipment after Israel’s decision to invade Rafah in Gaza.
Grothman says there are four reasons why the move is bad, with one being the US needing to help Israel pressure the terrorist group Hamas to stop fighting.
But the announcement from the Biden Administration is just the opposite.
Second, the Glenbeulah Republican says this move will only prolong the war and prevent Israel’s stated goal to rightly eradicate Hamas, which Grothman says going into Rafah will do that.
Lastly, he says he condemns this move because the president supported Israel when the war started, but now this action suggests a willingness to prioritize extremists within his party over principal.
He calls on Biden to retract his statement immediately, commit to delivering the arms, and demand unconditional surrender by Hamas.
Grothman has voted in favor of sending aid to Israel since the war started.
