One of Manitowoc’s longest-standing businesses continues to expand.
Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry has purchased ATEK Metal Technologies, based in New Hampton Iowa.
ATEK has a storied history dating back more than 50 years and even expanded its northeastern Iowa plant in 2018.
The sale to WAF will allow the company to expand its current operation in the state while giving WAF a stronger foothold in the metal forging industry.
Mark Osmanski, CEO of ATEK Companies, said of the sale, “Making the decision to sell ATEK was not an easy one, but after meeting with WAF leadership, it was clear that the company and team would be in good hands. We couldn’t ask for a better company to take ownership.”
This is WAF’s fourth acquisition in the past several years, as they previously bought DEE Inc. in Crookston, Minnesota, Wabash Castings in Wabash, Indiana, and closer to home, Manitowoc Pattern & Machining.
While the company has expanded outside of the state, WAF CEO Sachin Shivaram states, “Our beating heart remains in Manitowoc.”
This can be seen as the company is in the middle of a $25 million expansion at its 115-year-old facility in Manitowoc.
