An Eastern Wisconsin legislator is going to be the man in charge of a legislative study committee.
Assemblyman Paul Tittl of Manitowoc announced that he will be serving as the Chair of the Legislative Study Committee on Sandhill Crane Population.
The committee will be reviewing and recommending options related to the management of Wisconsin’s sandhill crane population.
Tittl explained that the population of sandhill cranes has doubled in the past decade and exceeded the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) upper population goal by nearly 100%.
Tittl noted, “It’s important that the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources have the ability to look at the best data available and have a full suite of options in order to properly manage this iconic species.”
