A woman who is facing charges in connection to her fiancé’s overdose death in Brown County has a plea date set.
WFRV TV reports that Stacie Girling is due for a plea hearing on July 1st after attending a status conference earlier this week.
The case dates back to November 2022, when EMS was called to a residence in Howard on a report of a man overdosing.
Medical personnel arrived on the scene to find a naked Girling frantically asking for help reviving her fiancé.
The man was eventually declared dead, despite lifesaving efforts, with an autopsy determining he died due to “toxic effects of fentanyl.”
The synthetic drug was found in the home, and witnesses claim that Girling had left to buy the drug earlier in the day.
Roughly two and a half months after the incident, Girling was arrested on charges of 1st Degree Reckless Homicide and Possession of Narcotic Drugs, each as Party to the Crime.
She is currently being held on a $100,000 cash bond.
