Faculty members at UW-Madison expressed deep dissatisfaction with the university’s management of recent pro-Palestinian demonstrations on campus.
In a show of solidarity, numerous faculty members marched past the protest site yesterday, vocally supporting the demonstrators and voicing their frustration with Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin’s approach.
Professor Keith Woodward criticized Mnookin’s decision to involve law enforcement last week, deeming it “disproportionate and unnecessary” during a Faculty Senate session.
Mnookin defended her stance, emphasizing students’ right to protest while insisting that camping on campus was not permitted.
She challenged the faculty, questioning whether they would tolerate similar encampments if the protesters espoused views contrary to their own.
