The Manitowoc Lincoln Baseball team nearly let a major conference win slip away but recovered to take down Green Bay Preble 11-10 on the road last night.
The Ships jumped out to a 9-0 lead through the first three innings, but then the bats fell quiet.
The Hornets jumped on the lull and scored 5 runs in both the 5th and 6th innings to take the lead.
With their backs against the wall, the Ships recovered, plating a pair in the 7th, and Brayden Steinbecker closed out the game to give the Ships the narrow victory.
Offensively, Cade Grapentine, Benson Dickrell, and Evan Vogt all knocked in a pair of runs, while Noah Wech, Gavin Lettenberger, Kam Braun, and Zach Bradl had 1 RBI a piece.
The win bumps Lincoln up to 16-1 overall and 12-1 in conference play and gives them a comfortable three-game lead over Notre Dame in the FRCC standings.
They are also tied with De Pere record-wise, but the Red Birds have the head-to-head tiebreaker.
The Ships are back at it today as they play host to another FRCC foe, Ashwaubenon.
