A traffic stop for expired license plates ended up landing a woman in jail on drug charges.
An officer with the Manitowoc Police Department reported seeing a vehicle with expired plates leaving the Marathon gas station on Washington Street over the weekend, so they conducted a traffic stop.
While speaking with the driver, a woman in the passenger seat kept talking over the driver to answer questions, giving different answers.
The woman gave officers permission to search her purse, which uncovered a Taser, and the vehicle.
Officers noted a strong smell of marijuana in the vehicle and, during a search, uncovered a baggie of methamphetamine, some marijuana, and several items of drug paraphernalia.
The 52-year-old woman was arrested on charges of Possession of Meth, THC, Drug Paraphernalia, Prescription Medication, and an Electronic Control Device, along with one count each of Misdemeanor and Felony Bail Jumping.
She is currently being held on a probation hold, while the man was arrested, but released after being processed.
