Manitowoc County residents get the chance to visit area farms and see their animals.
The Spring Fiber Farm Extravaganza gets underway today (May 3rd) and allows people to interact with animals like alpacas, sheep, and goats.
This year, residents can go to three different farms including the London Dairy Alpaca Ranch on State Highway 147 in Two Rivers, the Black Frog Farm on Belmar Ave. in Maribel, and the Velvet Sheep Farm on Garton Rd. in Sheboygan.
Laura Prellwitz from London Dairy explains why it’s called the Spring Fiber Extravaganza.
“None of the animals have been shorn yet,” she explains. “Shearing season is yet to come up. So, when people come out and visit for free, who doesn’t like free, you can see all these animals at all three locations with their full fiber on.”
To encourage people to go to all three farms, Prellwitz says they can pick up a punch card and get punched or signed.
When they visit their final farm, it can be dropped in a bucket for a chance to win a gift basket that will be picked up either Sunday evening or Monday morning.
The farms will be open from 10 am to 3 pm starting today and going through May 5th.
