The outgoing leader of the Salvation Army of Manitowoc County has nothing but love for our area.
Captain Jenny Moffit was on WOMT’s Be My Guest program yesterday morning, where she spoke about getting her marching orders from the Salvation Army, and what is next for her.
She explained that a typical posting for officers lasts between three and six years, and since she has been here for six years, she is on the long end of the average.
She spoke highly of Manitowoc, saying she is sad to go.
“Manitowoc has just become a home base for me over the past six years,” she told host Lee Douglas. “(I have) fallen in love with the community, the people, and the lake. I’m going to miss that, although, Lake Michigan does exist in Chicago.”
Moffit mentioned Chicago because that is where her new post will be, training the next generation of officers.
“I will be going to the Salvation Army College for Officers Training, where I will be an instructor and have an official title of Assistant Director of Curriculum,” she explained.
She said that job is going to be “an awesome opportunity,” with the added bonus of being not too far away from the place she has called home for the past six years.
