Kimberly Zapata, the former Milwaukee election manager, has been sentenced to probation and fined for mailing three counterfeit military ballots during the 2022 election.
The judge dismissed Zapata’s claim of whistleblowing and her assertion that the act was intended to highlight vulnerabilities in Wisconsin’s absentee ballot system.
Zapata’s actions were brought to light after she sent the fake ballots to Republican State Representative Janel Brandtjen, who promptly notified authorities.
