Manitowoc Tool and Manufacturing is continuing to expand.
Yesterday, a ceremonial groundbreaking was held at their plant on Vits Drive in the I-43 Industrial Park for a new 55,000-square-foot addition to their distribution center. The addition will provide more space for metal stamping.
Plant Production Manager Chris Muchowski says when the Vits Dr. plant opened a year ago, they were already planning for another addition.
“We’ve had some fortunate business growth recently,” he tells Seehafer News. “And it was about the first of the year we realized with the new projects coming online that we needed to do something pretty fast here.”
The addition will have two metal stamping presses to start, but Muchowski says there is room to purchase more equipment.
“But along with it comes maintenance, tooling support, material handling, inventory control, and planning,” he described. “All those things come along with supporting these presses running.”
Production Supervisor Nick Wunsch (WUNSH) says the expansion means more equipment to create parts and that means more production to get those parts out the door.
The company will hire a little more than a dozen new workers as the addition, which will be built through Hamman Construction.
The project could be done by as soon as August of this year.
