The man shot by an Outagamie County Sheriff’s Deputy has died.
According to NBC26, 22-year-old William Jae Kil Nelson was shot after police responded to a crash in the 2800 block of West Prospect Avenue in Grand Chute.
The responding deputies reported that Nelson had a knife on him, leading to Deputy Noah Yeck discharging his taser.
When that was unsuccessful, Sergent Ellis Brooks fired his service weapon.
An investigation is still ongoing by the DOJ, but they have stated that the deputies involved were wearing body cameras at the time of the incident.
Brooks remains on administrative leave, which is department policy.
