A man is facing several charges after breaking into a home and threatening to kill some people he knows.
Manitowoc Police were called to the home around 1:35 am Sunday and immediately started searching for the 30-year-old suspect who had gotten out of the back of the house.
He wasn’t found, but police were able to talk to the victims, who said the man didn’t live with them, but they knew him because he was going through a divorce.
Both people said they were sleeping when the suspect swung the door open while holding a kitchen knife, demanding they get against the wall and threatening to “decapitate” one of the two.
One of the victims got out the door and held it shut, but the suspect started stabbing through the door, again threatening to “kill everyone so there wouldn’t be any witnesses.”
The person holding the door escaped the area and went to a bathroom to call 911, and when the suspect found out, he ran out the back door.
Police were then called to a home on S. 16th Street, where some reported a man trying to get into their house.
Police arrived, found the suspect in a shed, and were able to arrest him.
Police say it was later learned that the suspect was let in through another part of the house and even slept in a closet.
The suspect has been charged with 1st-degree reckless endangerment, burglary, disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property, theft for stealing two phones at the home, and false imprisonment.
