It was a defensive battle in Mishicot last night as the Indians battled St. Mary Catholic.
It may have taken 8 innings, but Mishicot ended up taking the win 2-1 over the Zephyrs. Mishicot took a 1-0 lead in the second but would give up a run in the 4th.
They would knock home a run in the 8th inning, and pitcher Will Garceau would lock down the Zephyrs to secure the win.
Garceau only allowed one hit in his two innings of work, while starter Ethan Gnadt allowed six hits and a run while striking out six batters.
At the plate, the Indians only managed five hits, with Kaden Teserik and Reid Strupp each batting home runs.
The win was Mishicot’s 8th in a row after losing their first game of the season.
They will next be on the road to take on Manitowoc Lutheran Monday, before hosting the Lancers on Thursday.
The Mishicot softball team, meanwhile, took both ends of a double header yesterday against St. Mary Catholic despite an off night in the field in game 2.
The first game showcased the typical dominance the Indians have had all year, with batters scattering 21 hits en route to a 17-1 win.
Kiran Sanford pitched a gem, four innings of 1 hit ball while striking out five batters.
In game two, Cora Stodola and the Indians’ defense had a rare bad outing, allowing six hits and six runs over Stodola’s three innings of work. Sanford came on in relief, allowing three hits while striking out five batters.
The bats were still working, however, as the Indians earned an 11-6 win.
A total of five home runs were hit on the day FOR Mishicot. Stodola and Katelyn Callahan each hit two long balls, and Karsyn Krause dinged the fifth.
The Indians improve to 13-0 on the season and will next be in action Monday when they travel to Manitowoc Lutheran.
