The Kiel girls softball team battled back last night as they took down conference foe Brillion 5-4.
The Raiders trailed 3-0 in the 3rd inning but fought back and knotted the score at 4 when Chloe Meyer came to the plate.
She got on base with a single before stealing a base. She was trying to get home and give the Raiders the lead, but she was caught in a pickle between 3rd and home.
The Lions tried to get her out, but a headfirst dive at home plate was successful for Meyer, who notched what ended up being the game-winning run.
On the mound, Liz Niels had 13 strikeouts as she picked up the win.
With the win, Kiel improved to 4-4, and they ended a three-game losing streak.
The Raiders will be back in action tonight in Valders, while the Lions fall to 4-8 and will be in Chilton tonight.
Meanwhile, it was a full-team offensive performance by the Kiel girl’s soccer team last night, as seven Raiders tallied goals en route to a 10-0 over Valders.
Kyleigh Kroll led the way with a three-goal hat trick, while Ava Furhman added a pair.
Taavi Saeger, Lydia Vander-Meer, Ella Vander-Meer, Bella Schrage, and Kaley Lulloff all scored one goal as the Raiders improved to 7-0-1 on the season.
Kiel is next in action Saturday in Kaukauna to face Fox Valley Lutheran and Menomonee Falls.
The Vikings fall to 1-5 on the season, with their next game scheduled for next Thursday at home against New Holstein.
