Manitowoc Lincoln High School has named its next varsity basketball coach, and they didn’t have to look very far.
Assistant Varsity Coach Shane Evans will take the helm, capping a five-year progression of coaching Ships teams.
Evans was thrilled at the new leadership opportunity.
He said, “I have a deep passion for basketball and student success, and I’m committed to fostering a culture of energy, effort, and excellence on and off the court.”
He also thanked Lincoln High School for the opportunity to trust him with the future of Manitowoc basketball.
Evans played basketball and served as a team captain at Silver Lake College, where he served as a College Readiness 21 Coach, counseling high school students about college preparation and life skills and facilitating team building services. Pending approval by the Board of Education,
Evans will succeed Tad Cornell, who resigned in March for family reasons. He led the ships for seven seasons.
