A walk for Parkinson’s Disease takes place tomorrow (April 20th) in Manitowoc.
The Promenade the Park for Parkinson’s Awareness event allows participants to walk 4 city blocks around Washington Park to raise awareness about the debilitating disease that affects the central nervous system and, although not fatal, can cause complications.
The disease breaks down a person’s dopamine in the brain, and when dopamine levels decrease, it causes irregular brain activity and slows a person’s ability to do much.
This is the second year for the event and includes raffle items, including a Parkinson’s theme-designed wooden park bench.
Assistance will be provided again by the Roncalli High School Lasallian Student Youth Group.
The walk takes place from 10 am to noon rain or shine.
