It may not count in the record books, but a pitcher for the Mishicot softball team can say she went an entire game without allowing a baserunner.
The Indians dismantled Hilbert last night 20-0 in a game that was called after four innings. Junior Kiran Sanford was on the mound, where she struck out seven batters without allowing a single runner on base.
At the plate, the Indians scored 13 runs in the 4th to instigate the mercy rule. Katelyn Callahan went 3 for 4, including a home run, while knocking in 5 runs, while Cora Nelson brought home three runners on just as many hits.
The Indians are now 10-0, having allowed only two runs all season.
They will be back in action Saturday as they host St. Mary’s Springs at Mishicot High School.
The Indians baseball team also had little trouble with Hilbert yesterday, knocking off the Wolves 16-5.
This one was not as decisive early, as Hilbert held a 3-1 lead entering the 3rd inning.
Then, the Indians went off for nine runs over the next two innings and added six more between the 5th and 6th to secure the win.
The scoring was spread throughout the lineup, with seven players knocking in runs and all but two batters getting at least one hit.
Daryn Smith went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI, while Nolan Sand and Ethan Gnadt each knocked in a pair.
Gnadt also pitched five innings, striking out seven batters and allowing all 5 Hilbert runs.
Will Garceau came on in relief in the 6th inning to secure the win.
The Indians improve to 5-1 with the win and will ride a four-game win streak into a road contest against St. Mary Catholic on Monday.
