The Village of Allouez wants to gather information regarding the closure of the Green Bay Correctional Facility.
Village President Jim Rafter and village representatives will hold a roundtable discussion at the State Capitol in Madison next Tuesday (April 23rd) at 11:00 a.m. in room 411 South.
Green Bay Correctional has been under fire for many years because of the age of the building and the conditions that inmates are living in.
After a report by the Wisconsin State Journal was released in October last year that highlighted nurses being investigated for neglecting inmates, Rafter called for the closure of the facility, saying, “The facility is a danger to the guards, inmates, and the community where it is located. State leaders must step up and take action before it is too late.”
Others attending the roundtable include family members of inmates, reform advocates, and former guards from the prison.
