Studying sandhill cranes could be done soon in Madison.
State Assemblyman Paul Tittl of Manitowoc says he’s working on creating a study committee to look at the cranes in Wisconsin.
“Basically, you get a couple of representatives, and we have a couple of senators that basically work on these study committees,” he described. “And then we bring in experts.”
The committee will study the population, migration, and how they affect farms.
He says this doesn’t mean people will be allowed to hunt them, although he is in favor of a hunt being created.
Not only did he want the committee to be created, but he also asked if he could be the chair of it.
He reiterated that sandhill cranes can be a problem for farmers because they eat seeds planted by farmers, which ruin their crops.
