
There are two new council presidents on the Manitowoc and Two Rivers city councils.
In the Clipper City, 8th District Alderman Bill Schlei won by a 6-4 vote over Brett Vanderkin. Schlei talked about his experience on the council, which included being chairman of the Public Safety Committee and a member of the finance committee.
He also talked about his time as a gubernatorial and congressional aid.
Now former Council President Eric Sitkiewitz nominated Schlei while Vanderkin was nominated by Alderman Todd Reckelberg.
Two new council members were also sworn in during the organizational session last night, 5th District Alderman William DeBates and 9th District Alderman Brett Norell.
Alderman Jim Brey was also elected to the City Plan Commission.
In Two Rivers, Scott Stechmesser was elected unanimously as board president while Adam Wachowksi, the former president, will be vice president.
New board members Mark Bittner, Doug Brandt, and Shannon Derby were also sworn in during a special meeting last night.
For the Manitowoc County Board of Supervisors, 5th District Supervisor Tyler Martell will stay as the board chairman after also getting a unanimous vote.
