WMC, the legal arm of the Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce, has filed a lawsuit challenging Governor Tony Evers’ recent school funding increase.
The increase, purportedly spanning 400 years, was achieved through the Governor’s veto, which modified a proposed two-year funding plan.
WMC argues that this action exceeds the Governor’s constitutional authority to veto legislation and violates the requirement for legislative approval of spending plans.
Governor Evers defended his veto last summer, portraying it as a progressive measure aimed at bolstering funding for Wisconsin schools.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court has yet to announce whether it will hear the case or not.
