It was a defensive battle in Kiel last night as the Raiders hosted New Holstein for a girls softball game.
Kiel Coach Jenny Neils reports that neither team was able to cross the plate until the 5th inning, but in the end, the Huskies came out on top 5-2.
She credited New Holstein’s timely hitting, good bunting, and 12 strikeouts for the win.
Her Raiders never gave up, though, as they threatened to come back in the 7th, all started by an RBI single by Senior Addi Karls.
Sophomore Aubri Freund would follow that with a double, and Freshman Gretta Schaeuble would knock in a run, but the Raiders would fall short.
Senior Catcher Paige Wilkens also had a good game, securing a hit and stolen base while sniping down two runners from behind the plate.
