Eleven students from Manitowoc Lincoln had the experience of a lifetime over the weekend as they joined eight other schools in Green Bay for the Packers Girls Flag Open.
The athletes started the day by going through several skills drills before eating lunch in the Lambeau Field Atrium and hearing from several key female employees within the Packers organization who spoke about how there are many opportunities for women in the football world.
They then made their way back to the Don Hudson Center, where teams of six competed in a relay race and a fastest girl race, each of which was won by Kickapoo High School.
Manitowoc Lincoln’s Ava Quinchia took part in the longest throw competition, winning with a 41-yard bomb.
The Ships also competed in three games, winning two of them.
Not only did the athletes learn different skills, they also made friends with several other athletes from around the state.
Over 400 schools applied to partake in the event, but only nine were selected.
