
Wisconsin Public Service is praising its customers for their patience and kindness during the massive power outage last week.
Roughly 120,000 customers were left in the dark after a major winter storm hit the area.
WPS reports that more than 500 field workers from across the state and the Midwest converged on the area to restring over 40 miles of powerlines and replace 300 power poles and more than 20,000 other pieces of electrical equipment.
In total, 40,000 man-hours were put in over the span of a couple of days.
WPS President Mike Hooper described it as “an army of men and women from across Wisconsin and the Midwest working around the clock to repair the damage and get our customers restored as quickly and safely as possible.”
That effort was not lost on many customers, as workers reported being thanked by passers-by and by people on social media.
An elementary school in Menominee, Michigan, even wrote thank-you letters to the line crews featuring hand-colored pictures, one of which you can see below.
