One of Wisconsin’s largest cheese makers has announced plans to purchase a building in downtown Plymouth.
According to a report by the Sheboygan Press, the Gentine family is planning on purchasing the former 52 Stafford Building, which started life in 1892 as a hardware and drug store.
The plan came into effect after a recent closure, and the fact that the Gentine family has a history of visiting the building.
In fact, Sargento CEO Louie Gentine has stated that his mother and his wife both worked there before it closed.
It is not clear what the exact plan would be for the building, but a historical restoration is being discussed.
The property was also added to the National Register of Historical Places in 1985 and was at one point the longest-operating hotel in the state.
