A record that has stood for 41 years has been broken.
Manitowoc Lutheran Track Coach Abbey Bubolz tells Seehafer News that junior Jacob Kanzenbach is now the record holder in the 800-meter run.
The Lancers were in Cedar Grove for a meet Tuesday, where Kanzenbach finished the race in 2 minutes, 2.38 seconds, knocking Jim Lorenz’s 1983 record off its perch.
That was one of nine first-place finishes by the Lancers, with Gabe Stuebs winning the 400-meter race, Jaymen Ott earning gold in the long jump, Trenton Schettpelz earning a first-place finish in the triple jump, and 4×400 meter relay of Kanzenbach, Braden Revak, Suebs, and Ott rounding out the boys top finishers.
For the girls, Makiah Krause won the 300 hurdles and triple jump event, while Bitsy Blauert claimed first in the long jump, and Addie Korte came out on top in the 200-meter race.
Overall, the Lancers also earned eleven second-place finishes and eleven bronze medals.
