A Manitowoc man is pleading not guilty after allegedly causing a disturbance that led to a large police presence downtown last month.
38-year-old Demetrius Norton waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Judge Anthony Lambrecht’s courtroom last week.
His next court date for further proceedings will be May 17th at 8:30 am, with a scheduling conference set for July.
Norton allegedly caused a disturbance at the Manitowoc Place Apartments in which he was yelling profanities and threatened to shoot anyone who approached him in his apartment.
Police set up a perimeter around the apartment complex before K9 Riley lured out Norton.
Police said there were gunshots fired, but they didn’t hit anyone.
Norton is charged with battery or threatening law enforcement, disorderly conduct, and two counts of resisting a police officer.
