17 school districts, including some in northeast Wisconsin, are getting some grant money from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Developmentās Fast Forward Program.
The grants will reimburse the school district for the costs of purchasing and installing technical education equipment used for vocational training and technical education in advanced manufacturing fields.
The Chilton School District will get about $17,200 for an Epilog Fusion Laser Engraver, Air Pump, Rim-Drive Rotary Attachment, and Vector grid and Filter system.
It should provide students with more realistic production and manufacturing experience.
Grant money is also going to the Pulaski Community School District for a fiberglass cutting machine, while the Wittenberg-Birnamwood School District in Shawano County is getting funds for electrical and plumbing work to purchase a form-packing machine.
The current grants total about $495,106 for the districts across the state to train students for career paths involving robotics, welding, plasma cutting, 3D printing, drones, and more.
