An Eastern Wisconsin Senator’s bill aimed at helping those with disabilities has been signed into law.
Senator Andre Jacque announced that his proposal to create a tax-exempt savings account program for those with physical and cognitive challenges, co-authored by Representative Jeff Mursau, was signed by Governor Tony Evers.
Wisconsin was trailing most states in the creation of such a program, as only three other states do not currently have them.
Sen. Jacque said in a news release that the growth of the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) account program “has been slow, perhaps because the state hadn’t hosted a general webpage or had its own program to promote. This initiative should make these accounts more accessible and widely adopted by Wisconsin families who need them.”
