The cold and wet ground did not deter the Manitowoc Lincoln Girls Soccer team, as they handily took down Sevastopol/Gibraltar 3-1 at Rubick Field.
Ships Coach Ethan Jones tells us that Sophomore Lindsey Pionek opened up the scoring with what he called a “brilliant free-kick goal” in the first half.
Sarach Bolchen would tally the other two goals for the Ships with assists from Ana Vazquez and Ava Quinchia.
The relentless offensive attack was bolstered by, as Coach Jones put it, “brilliant defense” from Ella Dimitris, Abby Neuens, Cora Foster, and Lillie Dunphy.
The win bumps the Ships up to an even 1-1 on the young season as they prepare for their third home game in a row next week when Denmark invades Rubick Field on Tuesday.
