Tuesday’s snowstorm not only made travel an issue for many people, it also knocked out power all over the state.
Wisconsin Public Service saw roughly one-fourth of their customers’ homes go dark during the storm, with over 1,500 separate outages in their service area, which covers Manitowoc County up to Door County and as far northwest as Minocqua and Boulder Junction.
As of their latest restoration update, issued at 8:30 Wednesday evening, more than 60,000 customers had their power restored, but just shy of 45,000 remained in the dark.
That puts the total number of customers impacted at around 105,000 out of an estimated 450,000.
It is expected that a “vast majority of impacted customers will have power restored by the end of the day.”
