It was a packed KI Convention Center in Green Bay yesterday (April 2nd) as hundreds of Donald Trump supporters gathered to hear the presumptive Republican Presidential Candidate speak.
When he took the stage, the former president said he was happy to be back in Wisconsin despite the unseasonable weather.
“Has anybody noticed the weather outside?” he asked the crowd. “They said, ‘Sir I don’t think we are going to make it.’ I said ‘We have to. We can’t disappoint Green Bay.’…It is great to be back in Wisconsin with thousands of proud, hardworking American patriots. That’s what you are. You built this country.”
There was an empty podium on the stage, which Trump said was for President Joe Biden.
“I’m trying to get him to debate me,” he said. “I’m calling on Crooked Joe to debate anytime, anyplace. We will do it any way you want, Joe.”
He spoke about a wide variety of topics, including the 2020 election, which he claimed was stolen.
Trump said he won “here” both in 2016 and 2020, and depending on how you look at the numbers, that is both factual and false.
According to Politico, Trump garnered 1.4 million votes in 2016, defeating Hilary Clinton in Wisconsin.
In 2020, he collected 1.6 million votes, ultimately losing to President Biden in the state.
However, in both years, all of the counties in Eastern Wisconsin went to Trump, with the exception of Door County, which flipped to blue in 2020.
Another major topic was the border, which Trump said he would fix with “the largest deportation in American history.”
Trump praised his Republican party members in the Senate and Congress, specifically Congressmen Glen Grothman and Tom Tiffany, and Senator Ron Johnson, all of whom were on hand.
As was the person running against Tammy Baldwin for Wisconsin’s other Senate seat, Eric Hovde.
The former president turned to Hovde during his speech and said, “Eric, I am giving you my complete and total endorsement, so go out and win!”
As was anticipated, Trump won the primary in Wisconsin with 79.2% of Republican votes, with Nikki Haley getting 12.8% and Ron DeSantis getting 3.3%.
President Joe Biden also claimed Wisconsin with 86.6% of Democrat voters selecting him.
We have reached out to President Biden for an interview, but his office has yet to respond.
