Governor Tony Evers Official Portrait
Governor Tony Evers of Wisconsin has vetoed legislation that sought to restrict participation in girls’ sports to biological females only.
Evers argued that such a ban would harm LGBTQ+ youth and declared his commitment to protecting their rights.
Republicans, who proposed the ban, argued for separate sports leagues for everyone.
Additionally, Governor Evers has petitioned the state Supreme Court to permit the use of ballot drop boxes for the upcoming November election.
In a letter addressed to the court, Evers emphasized the need for accessible voting options, challenging a previous ruling that deemed ballot drop boxes illegal in Wisconsin.
The court, now with a liberal majority, is expected to review the matter ahead of the election.
