The city of Two Rivers will hold a public hearing about a proposed sign ordinance later this month.
The ordinance would allow the placement of sidewalk decals for some city businesses on a trial basis.
City Manager Greg Buckley said during last month’s council work session that the signs wouldn’t be permanent and would have to be removed by the end of the day.
During a discussion of the fourth draft of the ordinance, the council made an amendment to add a discussion about other signs.
City Attorney Jack Bruce says it’s specifically for signs that hang over a right-of-way in the city.
“That would require a public hearing as well,” he explained. “So, I thought, it might be a good idea to have the public hearing on both.”
The council later amended their motion at the public hearing to accommodate Bruce’s request.
The public hearing will be during the council’s next work session meeting on Monday, April 22nd.
The city wants to adopt this ordinance to benefit businesses and bring in more revenue for its residents and property owners.
