Jay Conklin, incarcerated in Stanley, faces serious charges for allegedly orchestrating a murder plot targeting a Chippewa County prosecutor.
Accused of conspiracy to commit first-degree intentional homicide and solicitation of first-degree intentional homicide, Conklin purportedly attempted to contract two fellow inmates for the job, staging it as a suicide.
Conklin is already serving a 40-year sentence for two convictions of child sexual assault.
The new charges could extend his time behind bars by over 70 years if convicted.
