Researchers in Wisconsin identified more than a dozen new viruses in fish, notably including a strain of coronavirus detected in Walleyes.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin SeaGrant program, conducts periodic testing of sport fish.
Although the fish coronavirus is related to the avian influenza coronavirus and is known for its impact on bird populations, researchers assure the public that it does not pose a threat to human health.
