Wisconsin’s Senate Majority Leader is talking about the latest State Senate session.
9th District State Senator Devin LeMahieu says a lot of bipartisan work was done, including investing in education while expanding the state’s school choice program, investing in local governments, repealing the personal property tax, and keeping the Brewers in Milwaukee.
On the other hand, he says he’s disappointed with Governor Tony Evers again vetoing a tax cut.
“Unfortunately, this is my first session out where even the first two of Governor Evers, we got to give tax cuts, but apparently, he was not up for it for this session,” he admitted. “So, we’re sitting on $3 billion right now.”
He was also disappointed that Evers vetoed using $125 million to go toward reducing PFAS in waterways.
Over the next few months, committees will continue to meet down in Madison.
LeMahieu says while they will discuss several topics, nothing will be passed with both chambers of the Wisconsin Legislature out of session.
