The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy involved in a shooting last year was cleared of all charges.
NBC26 reports that District Attorney Eric Toney announced that Deputy Blaine Evans would not face any charges in the shooting of 34-year-old Kyle Massie.
Evans had responded to a home last fall where Massie had allegedly assaulted a woman.
He reportedly fled the scene, and when he was confronted, Massie pulled a gun. Court documents state Massie shot at Evans 45 times but failed to hit him, while Evans returned fire, striking Massie twice.
However, Evans’ K9 partner Iro was struck five times, one of which shattered his back right leg.
While K9 Iro has not yet been medically cleared to return to work, he is currently undergoing training so he can be back by his partner’s side.
