The Manitowoc Public Library and League of Women Voters are teaming up to help the community learn about Wisconsin’s elections process, and Wisconsin Elections Commission Administrator Meagan Wolfe will be the main speaker.
She’ll be coming to the Clipper City next Wednesday, March 27th, to speak in the Balkansky Community Room in the library at 6:00 p.m.
Library Marketing Director Tim Gadzinski says the program called “You Can Trust Wisconsin’s Election System” explains how the system works and why it can be trusted.
Linda Gratz with the League of Women Voters explains that seeing every piece in the election process is important.
“There are 1,922 election officials in the state, which makes it the biggest group of election officials across the country,” Gratz explained. “Our system is huge, and they’re nonpartisan. And we want to get that point across.”
She also says Wolfe can do this because it’s a nonpartisan event with both groups hosting
Gadzinski says there are only 150 seats available if you want to attend in person, but the presentation will also be live-streamed on Facebook and on the library’s YouTube Channel.
After the presentation, attendees will be able to ask questions directly and through Facebook and YouTube.
Wolfe has been at the center of attention after the 2020 election which some Republicans have claimed was stolen.
The Wisconsin Senate voted in October to “fire” Wolfe, though it has no legal effect.
