State investigators have been called in to investigate an officer-involved incident in Mishicot.
According to a news release from Attorney General Josh Kaul, the Mishicot Police Department dispatched officers to a domestic dispute in the 200 block of South Main Street just before 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
A man was seen in the driveway of the residence, and he began approaching the officers in what was described as an “aggressive manner.”
Verbal commands were ignored, and non-lethal tactics caused the man to become more distressed.
The officers on the scene provided life-saving measures to the individual while EMS was called.
The unnamed individual is, at last word, still being treated at an unidentified local hospital.
The officers involved were wearing body cameras at the time and, as per department policy, have been placed on administrative duty.
The Division of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation, with the assistance of the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, Manitowoc Fire/Rescue, Mishicot Area Ambulance Service, Two Rivers Fire Department, a DCI Crime Response Specialist, and members of DCI’s Digital Evidence Unit.
All involved law enforcement will fully cooperate with DCI during this investigation.
