Governor Tony Evers has officially signed a bipartisan bill to fund the establishment of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure along Wisconsin’s interstate highways and major routes.
The bill, signed yesterday, authorizes the allocation of nearly $80 million in federal construction aid to support the installation and operation of EV charging stations at gas stations, convenience stores, and other businesses.
Lawmakers anticipate this funding will facilitate access to EV charging stations along 85% of Wisconsin’s highway system.
Presently, the state boasts just under 600 charging stations available for public use.
