The Two Rivers City Council has adjusted the city budget due to additional costs in the investigation into missing 3-year-old Elijah Vue.
City Manager Grey Buckley says over half of the budget that’s used for overtime pay for the police department has already been used because of the investigation.
“Police overtime has totaled about $70,000, and the entire budget for a year is $130,000,” Buckley tells Seehafer News. “So, one month has consumed over half the budgeted overtime.”
The city council unanimously approved the adjustment to get the overtime pay amount up to about $335,000.
Police have been searching for Elijah since he went missing last month on February 20th.
Earlier this week it was reported that the blanket the 3-year-old could have been carrying was found on Goodwin Rd. near County Highway B.
Since then, they’ve reminded residents not to search private property without permission first but encourage everyone who can to keep searching.
Up to $45,000 in cash rewards for any information regarding the finding of Vue or the arrest and conviction of someone in the case is still up for grabs.
$15,000 is coming from the FBI, another $15,000 is coming from TR Police, and Crimestoppers is offering $10,000.
