The two people charged in the disappearance of 3-year-old Elijah Vue were in court this morning.
Both Jesse Vang and Elijah’s mother, Katrina Baur, appeared before Judge Robert Dewane via Zoom from the Manitowoc County Jail.
Baur’s attorney, Ann Larson, asked Judge Dewane to withdraw the previously filed motion to dismiss a felony charge of Chronic Neglect of a Child as Party to the Crime, which was accepted.
Baur also waived her right to a preliminary hearing, and an arraignment hearing was scheduled for March 22nd at 4:00 p.m.
Vang, meanwhile, was alone, as a public defender had yet to be found for him. His preliminary hearing was postponed until March 21st at 10:30 a.m.
After the rescheduling was announced, Vang spoke, invoked his rights to due process, to an attorney, and to a speedy and fair trial.
Judge Dewane explained to Vang that as a public defender is being sought, his right to an attorney is being met, and asked him to submit the rest in writing.
As of the latest update, Elijah has yet to be found.
