A local carpeting business is one of six to win a nationwide award.
Carpets Plus of Manitowoc was given the National Retailers of the Year Award through the Alliance Flooring Group.
Owner Keegan Bartow says getting the award was based on sales volume, meaning how much is being sold.
There are about 500 Carpets Plus stores around the nation, and they looked at the Manitowoc store to get the numbers.
“They just pull all of our numbers throughout the year,” he explained. “We’re never sure how we compete throughout the country but this year we landed in the top six.”
Bartow says he was surprised to win the award when Carpets Plus has locations throughout the country.
“We think of Minneapolis and out on the east and west coasts,” he said. “I was definitely not expecting to receive this award so it was quite a surprise when it showed up this year.”
Although there are no extra incentives for Bartow’s business, he does thank the staff and customers for their support in making the business so successful.
He says he gets to work with so many awesome people, and the fact that his store had some great sales last year is a blessing.
