It was a busy night last Thursday (March 7th) for the Manitowoc County Historical Society.
They hosted their 118th annual Meeting at Meat’s Opera Haus in St. Nazianz and featured a business meeting, election of new Directors, and recognition of the organization’s outstanding volunteers.
Several members were recognized for their long volunteer work with the organization, and a financial overview was shared.
According to the report, managing a museum of 60 acres and 30 historic structures on an operating budget of approximately $140,000 annually is impressive.
President Bill Fricke said that program fees and admission also continued to be first-rate because several programs were brought back, and many new experiences were added.
Almost $17,000 in unrestricted funds were added in 2023, most of which were donations of $25 and $100 through membership renewal.
Several candidates were introduced for their first term, including Seehafer Broadcasting’s own Genesis Wilda, Dennis Tienor, and Ryan Zunker.
After announcing that volunteers had dedicated over 100 hours last year, the annual meeting concluded with a raise of over $3,700 for the historical society’s mission.
