Manitowoc Police are looking to charge a woman for stealing over $2,000 from the Meijer on S. Rapids Rd.
Police were called to the store twice on Monday (March 4th) and Tuesday (March 5th) for an employee reporting two thefts from the week before.
According to the employee reports, the first time the 27-year-old woman came in on February 28th around 6:30 pm, she brought in reusable bags and put them in her cart to conceal items that she had taken like shirts, hats, shoes, Pokémon cards, Hot Wheels, and Disney toy cars.
The woman also had picked up several health-related items before going to the register to pay for some of the items in the cart.
After having trouble with her card, another Meijer employee helped scan items, and although 19 were scanned, she took out 54 items in total, which would cost around $621.
The woman then came back on February 29th around 11 pm.
She went to the home section, picking up two plastic totes before going around the store, selecting multiple items, including a coffee maker, toaster, and a digital safe, and walking out without paying for anything.
Police say about 1,654.74 worth of merchandise was taken from the store.
They contacted Green Bay Police to try to get in contact with the woman but didn’t respond.
If she is arrested, the woman will be charged with two counts of retail theft and two counts of bail jumping.
