One of Wisconsin’s first largest and fanciest hotels in Green Bay is celebrating 100 years.
Hotel Northland will host two events, one of which will be open to the public in two weeks.
A press release from the hotel says it first opened its doors as part of a chain in September 1924 and operated for more than 50 years, hosting many dignitaries, including US Presidents, celebrities, and Green Bay Packers players and coaches, including Vince Lombardi.
In the 1970s, the hotel was converted into apartments and senior housing in the 1980s. Unfortunately, the building closed its doors and was vacant for ten years.
In 2019, a development group invested several million dollars and reopened the hotel.
General Manager Ashley Kellam says the public is welcome to tour the hotel on Tuesday, March 19th, including an evening with hor d’oeuvres and a memorabilia showcase.
The event runs from 5 to 8 pm.
