A Fond du Lac psychiatrist is going to prison for selling prescriptions in exchange for cash.
According to Fox 11, 77-year-old John D. Welan pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and lying to federal agents.
He will spend 2 years in prison and get three years of supervised release.
According to prosecutors, Whelan sold improper and illicit prescriptions, which meant he was abusing his position as a physician.
He also made more than $250,000 selling the drugs.
