It was a heartbreaking weekend for the Manitowoc County Breakers Bantam hockey team.
They were in Spooner for the state tournament, where they played Altoona in the first round. The Breakers battled hard but fell in overtime 4-3.
Game two was another high-scoring affair against Monroe, and once again, it went to overtime.
Once again, the Breakers lost in the extra period, 6-5.
The tides turned in the 7th place game, however, as the local squad dominated Marinette, 5-1.
The Bantam 4A state championship went to Burnett, who was absolutely dominant over the weekend.
They only allowed one goal on the weekend, taking out Marinette 6-0, River City 11-0, and Altoona in the Championship 8-1.
The Breakers’ Pee Wee 4A squad also qualified for state and will be in River City this coming weekend.
